What We Do
We Find & Fund
JCO identifies and prioritizes community needs through evidence-based assessments, community engagement, and continuous field presence across some of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable and underserved areas. By combining local knowledge with data-driven analysis, we design interventions that are responsive to community priorities and aligned with humanitarian and development objectives.
To transform identified needs into sustainable solutions, JCO mobilizes resources through strategic partnerships with national and international donors, development agencies, and humanitarian actors. Since 2014, the organization has successfully secured and managed funding from partners including DANIDA, UNDP, Search for Common Ground, CISU-DAC, DERF, and Afghanaid.
These investments have enabled JCO to deliver integrated programs across Ghor, Herat, Badghis, Farah, and Nimroz provinces in the sectors of Emergency Response, Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Protection, and Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL). Through effective grant management, accountability, and strong donor stewardship, JCO ensures that resources are translated into measurable results and lasting impact for vulnerable communities.
We Build Networks
JCO believes that sustainable impact is achieved through strong partnerships, local ownership, and collective action. As a locally rooted Afghan organization, we have built trusted relationships with communities, local authorities, civil society organizations, humanitarian actors, and government institutions, enabling us to work effectively in both stable and hard-to-reach environments.
Our extensive community networks provide direct access to vulnerable populations and ensure that programs are designed and implemented with meaningful participation from those they serve. Through active engagement with UN agencies, cluster coordination mechanisms, and development partners, JCO promotes coordinated, inclusive, and accountable responses that address evolving humanitarian and development needs.

We Strengthen
JCO strengthens the resilience and self-reliance of vulnerable communities by investing in livelihoods, essential services, human capital development, and emergency preparedness. Through integrated programming, we help households recover from crises, improve their well-being, and build sustainable pathways toward long-term development.
Since its establishment, JCO has successfully implemented multiple donor-funded projects and directly reached more than 2,578 households and 18,046 individuals) across Ghor, Herat, Badghis, Farah, and Nimroz provinces, including 3,909 men, 4,535 women, 4,801 boys, and 4,801 girls.
Our achievements include delivering health and education services through DANIDA-funded initiatives; supporting vulnerable households with agricultural inputs, greenhouse technology, and livelihood opportunities through UNDP funding; strengthening institutional systems and staff capacity through Search for Common Ground; improving educational and life-skills opportunities for youth through CISU-DAC support; and providing rapid humanitarian assistance to communities affected by floods, earthquakes, and other emergencies through DERF-funded response programs.
These accomplishments demonstrate JCO’s ability to manage donor resources effectively, deliver high-quality programs in complex environments, and achieve measurable outcomes for vulnerable populations. By combining technical expertise, community engagement, and accountable programming, JCO continues to strengthen resilience, expand access to essential services, and contribute to sustainable development across Afghanistan.
We Educate
JCO invests in people by expanding access to quality education, skills development, and learning opportunities that empower individuals and strengthen communities. We believe that education is a foundation for resilience, economic opportunity, social inclusion, and sustainable development.
Through donor-supported initiatives, JCO has improved access to education and learning opportunities for children, youth, women, and vulnerable groups across western Afghanistan. With support from DANIDA and other partners, the organization has reached more than 7,130 individuals through education and community development interventions.
Our support has included the provision of school furniture, educational materials, learning resources, and capacity-building opportunities that create safer and more inclusive learning environments. JCO has also promoted literacy, life skills, youth development, and community awareness initiatives that help individuals build knowledge, confidence, and future opportunities.
By strengthening human capital and expanding access to education, JCO contributes to improved learning outcomes, greater social inclusion, and stronger, more resilient communities.
We Provide Care
JCO delivers integrated Health, Nutrition, and WASH interventions that save lives, protect vulnerable populations, and improve community well-being. Our approach combines immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term solutions that strengthen access to essential services and reduce vulnerability.
Across Ghor, Herat, Badghis, Farah, and Nimroz provinces, JCO has supported thousands of vulnerable individuals through health awareness campaigns, medical assistance, hygiene promotion, and initiatives that improve access to safe water and sanitation services. Particular attention is given to women, children, persons with disabilities, displaced families, and communities affected by poverty, conflict, and natural disasters.
JCO has also supported health facilities and community-based services through the provision of medical equipment, assistive devices, and essential supplies, helping to improve healthcare access and quality in underserved areas.
Through community-centered and evidence-based programming, JCO contributes to healthier communities, reduced health risks, improved hygiene practices, and enhanced resilience among vulnerable populations.

JCO serves as a trusted local partner for donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and development actors seeking effective, accountable, and context-sensitive implementation in Afghanistan. Drawing on more than a decade of operational experience, we provide technical assistance, advisory services, and localization support throughout the project cycle.
